Ventures into Perception

Sharing a playful, sometimes humorous approach, these artists seek to engage the viewer in deep-seated issues that affect society and the individual. Myths and stereotypes are challenged by changing the space, challenging preconceived ideas and cultural norms.
The narrative is used as a device to "tell their stories." For Bell, the male protagonist, while Franks and Stone engage in intertextuality to burrow into women's lives, deconstructing learnt and inherited behaviours.
By action, cutting, compression, constraint, attachment, and through the use of space and placement, they interrogate visual reality, evoking ambiguous readings of time, space, object and subject. Their outcomes seek to roll the temporal planes, past, present, and future, into one glance.
